Medicine 3.0

What is Medicine 3.0?

Medicine 3.0 is a term made popular by Outlive author and physician Peter Attia, MD. It is functional medicine, where an individualized, preventative, root-cause approach is applied to patient care. Most functional-medicine practices offer an introductory call with the care team to understand your concerns; follow-up appointments are tailored to individual needs and can include time with a health coach, blood work, specialty lab testing, and practitioner-grade supplements. The goal is a holistic approach that proactively prevents disease — the same philosophy behind our Complete Health dentistry.

Who practices Medicine 3.0?

  • Sano Health Club — Emily Jiang, MD, IFMCP and Kevin Jiang, MD. Dr. Emily is a board-certified family physician and functional medicine doctor. Dr. Kevin is a board-certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine doctor. Based in Camarillo, CA, Sano Health Club offers a comprehensive assessment of everything from your heart health to your gut health.
  • Center for Integrative Health — Tiffany Caplan, DC and Brent Caplan, DC. Both are Certified Doctors of Natural Medicine and Certified Functional Medicine Doctors. Their office is in Ventura, CA, with telehealth consulting available across the United States. They specialize in autoimmune conditions and a whole-body approach to care.
  • Empower Sleep — Dr. Sahil Chopra. Dr. Chopra co-founded this telehealth approach to diagnosing and treating sleep concerns: an initial three-day span of sleep tracking with a wearable device at home, then three to six months of nightly monitoring until sleep is optimized.

Medical professionals we trust

  • Dr. Jeffrey Tseng — Otolaryngologist (ENT) and plastic surgeon. Our go-to ENT resource for patients with chronic nasal breathing concerns.
  • Dr. Abhay Vaidya — Otolaryngologist (ENT). Specializes in tongue-tie release in infants and children.
  • Dale Bredesen, MD — Alzheimer’s prevention. A leading researcher and clinician in cognitive decline, author of The End of Alzheimer’s, and founder of Apollo Health. A healthy mouth free of harmful bacteria is a crucial component of preventing inflammation and cognitive decline. Apollo Health’s website offers an “Assess my Cognition” test — a good start toward the recommended cognoscopy by age 40 — plus the PreCODE (prevention) and ReCODE (reversal) programs.
  • Drs. Bale and Doneen — heart attack and stroke prevention. Co-authors of Beat the Heart Attack Gene, they use leading-edge testing to identify risk factors and build a plan to prevent heart disease. One such risk factor: bacteria in the mouth that are also found in the arterial walls of heart-attack patients and the brains of stroke patients.

Our doctors have trained directly with Dr. Bredesen’s ReCODE program and completed the Bale/Doneen preceptorship — it’s a big part of how we practice.
