Solea Laser Dentistry
An advanced dental laser that lets us do many procedures with less noise and less discomfort, often with no needle or drill at all.
The whir of the drill and the pinch of the needle are the two things people dread most about the dentist. Our Solea dental laser replaces both for many procedures. Cavities can be prepared without drill noise or vibration, and frequently without any anesthetic injection at all.
How it works
Solea is a computer-controlled dental laser that removes tooth structure in fine, precise increments instead of grinding it away with a rotary drill. That precision is part of why so many procedures can be done without the vibration, pressure, and noise of a traditional handpiece — and often without the anesthetic injection that usually comes with drilling. Your dentist decides case by case whether Solea is the right tool for a particular procedure; not every situation calls for it, and we’ll always walk you through the plan before we start.
What that means for your visit
- Many fillings done without numbing, so no needle and no numb lip for the rest of the day
- A quiet, gentle experience — no drill whir, no vibration
- Faster appointments, often with multiple teeth treated in one visit since there’s no waiting for anesthetic to take effect
- A calmer visit for kids and anxious patients, and fewer postponed appointments for people who’ve avoided the dentist because of needle or drill anxiety
When numbing is still needed
Some procedures call for anesthesia even with Solea, and for those we use our computer-controlled STA Wand system rather than a traditional syringe. It delivers anesthetic more gradually and evenly, which most patients find far more comfortable than a standard injection.
Built into how we practice
Solea is part of our broader investment in comfortable, modern dentistry, alongside CEREC same-day crowns, digital scanning, and gentle injection techniques for the times numbing is needed. For families here in the Conejo Valley who’ve put off treatment because of dental anxiety, or parents looking for a calmer first experience for a child, this kind of technology can make a real difference.
Next steps
If dental anxiety — yours or your child’s — has kept you away from the dentist, ask us whether Solea is a fit for your treatment. Give us a call or reach out through our site, and we’ll talk through what a visit would look like before you commit to anything.
Common questions
What is the Solea laser?
Solea is an advanced dental laser that can perform many procedures traditionally done with a drill, often with no needle, no numbing, and none of the drill’s noise or vibration.
Does laser dentistry hurt?
Most patients feel little to nothing during Solea procedures. Many cavity preparations are done without anesthetic at all, which also means no numb lips afterward. On the occasions numbing is still needed, we use our computer-controlled Wand system for a gentler injection.
Is the laser safe for kids?
Yes, and kids are often the biggest fans. Visits are quieter, faster, and frequently needle-free, which can make a real difference for anxious children (and anxious adults).
